Precision Electronics first opened its doors over 30 years ago, two terms have been synonymous with their name, "state of the art quality" and "leading edge development". Don Wood, the founder and owner of Precision Electronics, had a very personal interest in the development of the Helmet Comm; while riding his snowmobile with his friends, he simply wanted to be able to communicate over long distances which possibly would encompass large geographical barriers. Don knew that the key to such communication would be a highly cost efficient way to couple an external, high mounted antenna with a powerful VHF or UHF radio. The small wattage GRMS radios already being used for rider-to-rider communication in outdoor sports activities simply did not have the range or power.

After several years of research, development, and actual in-use testing by Don, his staff and friends, the Helmet Comm was created.
